A Magazine Curated By Grace Wales Bonner

From her debut Ebonics AW2015 to Volta Jazz SS2022, Grace Wales Bonner has infused her designs with narratives exploring global Black identity, blending sartorial craft with the effortless spirit of the street.

This publication is a 200-page study of her research, inspired by Black poetry, literature, and portraiture. It combines archival material with new essays, poems, and visual portfolios shot across Los Angeles, London, Miami, Paris, and New York.

Highlights include works by Ming Smith, Steven Traylor, Zoë Ghertner, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, and Tyler Mitchell, plus a landmark collaboration with Samuel Fosso and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie.

Presented as an encyclopedic document, issue N°22 pairs Wales Bonner’s archives with writings on Jamaican dancehall, the Kamoinge group, and Ghanaian film photography, featuring contributions from Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Roger Robinson, John Goto, and Ben Okri.
